WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
Visit How to Take Part to find out.
WHAT KIND OF FILM ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
- ANY type of film can be entered: fiction, documentary, abstract, animation, or even a photo-essay. It's the idea of the emotional response to a place we are interested to see, and the way you choose to put that emotion across is up to you!
- The only technical requirement is that you MUST be able to upload it to our website. No hard copies of films will be accepted.
- See great work already submitted in our gallery.
WHAT KIND OF SPACES CAN I MAKE THE FILM ABOUT?
Any spaces, public or private, can be your subject.
This special place might not actually exist any more, except in your memory and it would be fine to make a film about these lost places.
I'VE NEVER MADE A FILM BEFORE.
CAN I TAKE PART?
Absolutely! You may not be a trained filmmaker, but you know how a place makes you feel and that's what we want to see in your film. Your ability to communicate your ideas is more important than any technical consideration.
If you've never made a film before, this is your chance!
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY?
- Copyrighted music cannot be included without the appropriate license
- All material in the film (photos, images, text) must be of your making.
- All films MUST have been made specifically for this competition. No film that has had a prior public screening can be submitted.
- Your completed film must be submitted by no later than 5.00pm Friday, 17th September.
- The competition is open to anyone currently resident in Singapore.
HOW CAN I MAKE A FILM IN 90 SECONDS AND SAY SOMETHING MEANINGFUL?
It's a challenge! But see how filmmakers from around the world are doing JUST that as part of DepicT!, the 90 second short film competition of Encounters. Visit their site to see examples of some great micro-films, which will give you an idea of the amazing things that can be done (and you can enter their competition at the same time as you enter ours!).
Good luck to everyone and we look forward to seeing your films!
